"Ursa Major" Wilt Chamberlain's Bel-Air Home

"Ursa Major" Wilt Chamberlain's Bel-Air Home

Address: 15216 Antelo Place, Los Angeles, CA 90077

The futuristic—and somewhat notorious—Los Angeles mansion built for the late NBA star Wilt Chamberlain in the 1970s. The five-bedroom, eight-bathroom home has been significantly remodeled, removing some features like a swim-through passage from the pool to the dinning room.

The underlying property in Bel Air once belonged to the U.S. government as a former missile silo. The story goes that Chamberlain was in a helicopter and saw the secluded promontory from above and decided then that he wanted to build a house on the site.

Chamberlain hired architect David Rich to design the geometric, modernist-style home from steel, wood and stone. Hear Wilt talk about the home here.
