PHX Arena: 201 E Jefferson St, Phoenix, AZ 85004

About this Arena:

This arena opened in 1992 and moved the Suns from their former arena The Phoenix Coliseum where they played 24 seasons. Nicknamed “The Purple Palace” by fans, this arena is located one city block away from the Diamondbacks’ Baseball Arena. It hosted three games of the 1993 NBA Finals between the Suns and the Chicago Bulls; it also hosted three games of the 2021 NBA Finals against the Milwaukee Bucks.

The planned renovations between 2020-2023 were sped up by 80% due to the Covid Pandemic. During the renovations they relocated the practice facility to a different location, using that space to build three social clubs for premium seating behind the players tunnel.

Notable Inside this Arena:

There are two bars (Dos Equis & Hornitos) on the main concourse that open to the bowl, where anyone can grab a drink and watch the game in standing room style.

See or be in the background of the local sports broadcast. They film on the west side of the main entrance before, after and at halftime of most games.

Jim Beam Barrel Bar: Located on the suite level. Live music, all-inclusive food/drinks, and seating that’s more comfortable (tables, leather sofas) near the baseline. Great for enjoying the game in a more social and premium setting.

Steve Nash Mural: There’s a relatively new mural honoring Steve Nash inside the concourse. It was painted by a self-taught Navajo artist, Piersten Doctor. If you like seeing tributes to past legends, this is a meaningful one.

Notable Food:

  • Spinato’s Pizza (Section 103 & 113): Good option if you want something comforting and shareable.
  • Big Chicken (Section 120): crafted under the vision of NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, this spot delivers a menu of inventive chicken sandwiches and sides.
  • Benihana & RA Sushi (Section 121)
