About this Arena:

Before moving to this location, the Spurs played at the Alamodome – a facility designed for football and requiring them to curtain off almost half of the space with lots of restricted sightlines. The Spurs campaigned for several years for a new facility and moved into this area in 2020. On April 10, 2019, Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks played his final NBA game at the arena in a 94–105 loss to the Spurs. A tribute video on behalf of the Spurs was shown and Nowitzki was moved to tears as the sold-out crowd congratulated him.

The arena’s design draws from South Texas / San Antonio cultural elements: open porches, shaded loggias, overhangs, and sun-screens. There are corner stairs with perforated-metal, sombrilla-style shading

Notable Things in this Arena:

The Spurs have won five NBA championships: 1999, 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2014 so find the trophy case with the NBA championship trophies & rings to get a picture in front of it.

There is a big art collection (200+ pieces) from local and Texas artists inside the arena. Things like murals, installations, etc. Look for the “Go Spurs Go” mural by San Antonio artists Nik Soupe & Shek Vega, located on the plaza level (Section 118) or the “Soy 210” and “Viva Coyote” in the lower concourse.

Lots of Texas / San Antonio identity baked in: rodeo culture references, fan rituals, Spurs history (championship banners, trophy cases in some entrances) that are visible once you take a walk around. Pick up a Souvenir Draft Beer throughout this arena.

Notable Food & Drinks:

Best Place to Start: There is a big food hub at plaza level (SA Central) inside the arena that brings in various local eateries so you don’t have to leave the arena to get good local food. (Four local chef-driven concepts: Bunz Burgers by Chef Thierry, Fruteria by Chef Johnny Hernandez, Shuck Shack and Two Brothers BBQ by Chef Jason Dady)

  • Rock & Brews (100-level near Section 114): Burgers & fries, good beers, bar‐atmosphere. If you want something a bit more relaxed or “restaurant style” inside the arena.
  • Bulgogi Bowls with Beef, Chicken, or Tofu Seltzers at the Seoul Stop (Section 121)
  • Mangonadas (Section 126) & A self-serve Frozen Margarita stand with a Fat Tuesday New Orleans concept (Section 207)
