Wilt Chamberlain Statue (Philadelphia, PA)

Wilt Chamberlain Statue (Philadelphia, PA)

Address: 3601 S Broad St, Philadelphia, PA 19148

This statue is located at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA in tribute to Wilt ‘The Stilt’ Chamberlin, one of the most accomplished Philadelphian Athletes. Chamberlin etched himself into NBA history with his 100 point game, playing for the ‘Philadelphia Warriors’ in 1962.

This tribute to Wilt ‘The Stilt’ Chamberlin stands 17 feet tall. The statue itself is a multi-figure bronze sculpture (three-tons) that sits atop a granite base. He is depicted towards the bottom as a coach-like figure, which evolves to an intense and expressive sculpture of a high-flying dunk (aka the “Dipper Dunk”). The accompanying plaque reads: “The worth of a man is measured by the size of his heart.”

It’s designed to commemorates both his legacy and his foundation. It was commissioned by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2004. The Chicago-based artist Omri Amrany included the rubber band Wilt wore around his wrist.
